Fredericksburg Gun Manufactory Site : ウィキペディア英語版 | Fredericksburg Gun Manufactory Site
Fredericksburg Gun Manufactory Site is a historic archaeological site located at Fredericksburg, Virginia. It was the site of the Fredericksburg Gun Manufactory, established by an ordinance passed on July 17, 1775, by Virginia’s third revolutionary convention. It was the first gun manufactory in America and its workers repaired and manufactured small arms for the regiments of numerous Virginia counties during the American Revolution. The factory’s principal product was modeled after the British Brown Bess musket, the standard infantry arm of the day. The factory closed in 1783, and the land and buildings were transferred by the General Assembly to the trustees of the Fredericksburg Academy. The property was sold to a merchant in 1801, and later subdivided.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania Historical Markers: Fredericksburg Gun Manufactory N-7 )〕 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.〔 ==References==
